First of all, I would like to express my happiness & congratulation to our National Football Team for winning the 28th CECAFA “Al-Amoudi Senior Challenge Cup”.

Sport plays a significant role in creating teamwork and healthy relationships between people. The result secured by our National team demonstrates the fact that teamwork and united effort can bring about fruitful/sweet results. Our Chairman and owner of MIDROC Ethiopia, Sheik Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi, has continued his commitments to develop sports in Ethiopia in particular and in Africa in general.

Thanks to our Chairman's financial support and sponsorship, we all were able to enjoy the 28th CECAFA tournament held in Addis.

In addition to his multi-sectoral investments to develop the country, he has contributed a lot to make Addis Ababa the real capital city of Africa. In doing so, he has recently proved that the city is capable of hosting regional sport competitions of the continent.

Sheik Mohammed, who strives to make people happy, has successfully produced real happiness to the nation with the 28th CECAFA Cup. At the opening of the tournament, the Chairman said “making Ethiopia the host nation after 17 years is a modest contribution and a reasonable gift to millions of honest sport loving people”.

In support of our chairman we, at the office of the CEO, MIDROC Ethiopia, have made our own contribution to the success of the tournament by making available 20 Mercedes Van modern mini-busses to transport National teams of the computing nine nations including our National football team.

We have sponsored different matches to make it easy for fans to follow the match by TV.

Cognizant of what a teamwork and a sport activity can bring about, we have organized “Mechare” sports club football team named after a small field in Woldia town where our chairman used to play during his childhood. “Mechare Sports Club Football Team” consists of only employees of our companies and is currently playing in the higher division tournament organized by the Addis Ababa Football Federation.

Sport has the magic to unite people. It is one of the known management tools that can be used as an example to foster teamwork and result oriented performance.
