“addis Home Depot” Pvt. Ltd. Co. (aHD), a retail and whole sale supermarket, is officially opened on February 21, 2006. “addis Home Depot” was legally established as a company in 2003 under the leadership of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, MIDROC Ethiopia. The company is officially inaugurated by Sheik Seid Hussein and Dr. Arega Yirdaw, Chief Executive Officer, MIDROC Ethiopia .

On the inaugural ceremony Sheik Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi, Chairman and owner of MIDROC Ethiopia, Shareholders, customers, officials of MIDROC Ethiopia, employees and their representatives as well as other prominent invited guests were present.

Ato Eyesus Work Zafu, President of Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations (AACCSA) and Ato Melaku Beza General Manager of National Mining Corporation have revealed the main board of the building.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony Sheik Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi, Chairman and owner of MIDROC Ethiopia, said that Dr. Arega is always keen to introduce to our country international best practice in making modern business.

"The reason behind establishing this business institution is not snatch away local trader’s market share but to introduce modern marketing schemes to our country. We want to work together with my countrymen," Sheik Mohammed said.

Dr. Arega Yirdaw MIDROC Ethiopia Chief Executive Officer on the inauguration ceremony said that “addis Home Depot” is fully engaged in trade and distribution of all types of merchandizes related to building industries, construction and home appliances such as Reinforcement bars, Plywood, Formica, PVC tiles, Adhesives, Skirting, Ceramic Tiles, Sheet Glass, Electronic Items, Wooden Doors, PVC and Galvanized Pipes, Ceiling Tiles, etc.

The CEO further noted that, it provides its services by availing the stated items manufactured by MIDROC Sister Companies, as well as other local and foreign manufacturers. The company believes in availing the necessary items for home builders, real estates developers, civil contractors as well as interior furnishers and decorators. It provides all the above items in one place, hence the motto “All-in-one” services is being implemented. Wzo. Zinash Asrat, Deputy General Manager of “addis Home Depot”, said on her part that the company has an initial capital of Birr 10 million with a plan annual sales revenue of Birr 8.5 million.

According to the DGM the store is a one-stop shopping center where customers could buy all the necessary construction materials at reasonable prices.

The MIDROC Ethiopia Technology Group annual “Customers’ Day” was simultaneously celebrated at the addis Home Depot compound, which is located near to Bisrat Gebreiel church close to Dil market.

Mean while the company had organized a special get-together at the Crown Hotel on February 23, 2006 to thank all those employees of the Sister Companies and the Office of the CEO, who have made significant contribution to the success of aHD inauguration. Also on the occasion, DGM Wzo. Zinash Asrat presented special gift to Dr. Arega Yirdaw who has made tremendous contribution to the formation and success of the company’s inauguration.
