Wanza Furnishing
Industry (WANZA), a member of the MIDROC Ethiopia Technology Group
has won two bids for the impregnation and supply of wooden poles
worth 55 million Birr. Two agreements have been signed between WANZA
and the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO) on December
6, 2005 and January 3, 2006.
The first agreement which was signed on December 6, 2005 has a
contract value of 7.8 million Birr for the impregnation of 100,000
wooden poles to the EEPCO. The second one, which was signed on January
3, 2006 involves the preparation, impregnation and supply of 160,000
wooden poles to the cooperation worth of 47.2 million Birr.
The First agreement was singed by Ato Fikru Zergaw, General Manager
of Wanza Furnishing Industries and Ato Mihret Debebe, General Manager
of EEPCO, while the second one was signed by Ato Mihret Debebe and
Dr. Arega Yirdaw, Chief Executive Officer of MIDROC Ethiopia and
WANZA.
Present at the signing ceremonies were Officials of EEPCO, WANZA,
members of the office of the CEO and other invited guests.
Ato Mihret, at the signing ceremony said that the Government has
launched efforts to build the capacity of local manufactures and
WANZA can play a key role in a rural electrification programs.
Dr. Arega on his part recalled an earlier agreement reached between
EEPCO and Kombolcha Steel Products Industry, PLC (KOSPI), in which
the latter manufactured and supplied 30,000 Electric Poles to the
Corporation on time.
Dr. Arega thanked EEPCO for showing keen interest in business partnership
with MIDROC Ethiopia Technology Group Companies by signing the current
two very essential agreements with WANZA. He also reaffirmed the
timely supply of the said materials agreement within the specified
dates and with the required quality as per the contracts.
Ato Fikru Zergaw, General Manager of WANZA on his part said that
the company has finalized all preparatory work to implement the
agreements.
Following the signing ceremonies of both contracts on December
6, 2005 and January 3, 2006, Dr. Arega Yirdaw addressed the employees
of WANZA and briefed them about the contents and importance of the
two agreements. He emphasized the role of employees in implementing
the agreements and in meeting the specified delivery dates.
Employees of WANZA expressed their happiness on the recent developments
that took place in their company and assured the CEO that they will
do their level best to discharge their responsibilities to fulfill
the implementation of the contract. |
