Daylight Applied Technologies PLC is organized under the Office of the Chief Executive Officer of MIDROC Ethiopia, and is lead by a General Manager, directly reporting to the CEO. The company has three operation units: Computer Assembly, Maintenance and Networking Operations Unit, Electro-Mechanical Works Operations Unit and Glass Factory Operations Unit; and four Service Units, all of which are managed by qualified managers endowed with rich experience, and geared up for the company's future growth.

In order to maintain a modern and effective management system, the Company's Management has introduced and put into practice different Policies and Procedures. Among these are:

  • Human Resources Services Policy and Procedure Manual (HRSPM)
  • Financial Services Policy and Procedure Manual (FSPM)
  • Materials Management Services Policy and Procedure manual (MMSPM)
  • Organizational Structure Manual (OSM)
  • Protection Services Policy and Procedure Manual (PSPM)
  • Educational Policy
  • HIV/AIDS Policy Manual

All Policy and Procedure Manuals are subject to change and hence nearly 80 directives have been released to improve the policies.

BUSINESS PURPOSES  
 
 

The company is established to accomplish the following business purposes:

  • Manufacturing of different glass products such as bottles, tumblers (drinking glasses), food stuff containers and the like.

  • Manufacturing and assembly of refrigerators, water heaters, electric stoves, air conditioners and other electrical appliances and components for household, office and industrial use.

  • Act as an agent for manufacturers and/or suppliers of different electric machines, appliances and spare parts.

  • Give after sales service for the maintenance of its own manufactured products and for those products it acts as an agent for.

  • Assembling and/or manufacturing and sales of computers, television, radio and related components and spare parts and also to be engaged in the improvement for suitable application and sales of computer software.

  • Computers networking activities.

  • Assembling and/or manufacturing and sales of mobile telephones.

  • Design and/or assembly and installation of electro-mechanical equipment in the industrial, agricultural and the construction sectors.
  • Urban and rural electrification works such as electrical generators assembly and/or installation, and distribution.

  • Assembly and/or installation of solar powered and wind powered electric generators, water pumps, water heater, stoves and other solar power application equipment.

  • Design and/or assembly and installation of electric security systems.

  • Manufacturing of assorted packing materials for agricultural and industrial products.

PRESENT UNDERTAKINGS  
 
 

Currently, Daylight's Computer Assembly and Maintenance Unit is assembling and selling desktop computers and accessories, and is also engaged in networking activities and comprehensive maintenance support services. The company has signed Comprehenshive Maintenance Contract with all companies under the Office of the CEO, MIDROC Ethiopia (The MIDROC Ethiopia Technology-Group Companies). The Unit has successfully installed Local Area Network (LAN) at the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, MIDROC Ethiopia. It has also installed a temporary LAN system for Modern Buildings Industries PLC (MBI) and is also providing the same service for Kombolcha Steel Products Industries PLC (KOSPI).

Daylight is also currently engaged in the installation and commissioning of a modern glass bottles factory.

Currently, Daylight Applied Technologies PLC employs a total number of 80 permanent employees who are educated in the technical and non-technical fields. The number of employees is expected to rise to 300 when the Glass Factory starts operating.
