The eight-storey “Haji Mohammed Yasin Business Tower” named after grand father of our chairman and constructed by HUDA Real estate at a cost of well over 50 million birr was officially innaugurated in Dessie Town on 24 November 2011. The ceremony was launched in the presence of Ethiopian tycoon and MIDROC Ethiopia Chairman, H.E. Dr. Sheik Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi, Amhara State President, H.E. Ato Ayalew Gobeze, H.E. Ato Bereket Simon, Communication Affairs Minister, H.E. Ato Demeke Mekonnen, Minister of Education, senior officials of the MIDROC Ethiopia investment group as well as other Federal and State government officials.
The launching of the building’s operation was held in the conference hall of the business tower named after Sheik Mohammed Ali Al-Amoudi’s mother, Mrs. Ruqia Haji Mohammed Yasin. Explaining about the stance of his companies and future intervention in Wollo, at that specific juncture, Sheik Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi said, “I have never forgotten Wollo, and I have never gone away from it too. However, I feel I have not done for it as it deserves. It is thus high time to work for Wollo, indeed.”
He further elucidated that Wollo is part of his blood clot and said, “I am very much proud of what we have done so far and pleased to see this modern building officially becoming operational today which is comparable to other classic buildings found in the nation both in terms of quality and scope.” In his innaugural speech the chairman stated various activities planned to be executed in the coming three years, including a modern four star hotel in Dessie and a huge Tosa Steel Factory in Kombolcha with an estimated cost of over 500 million Dollar.
Lauding Sheik Mohammed’s commitment to invest and well expand interventions in agriculture, mining, education, construction, finance, real estate, petroleum and other sectors, MIDROC Ethiopia chief executive officer, Dr. Arega Yirdaw urged other high profile investors in the country to follow suit in order to make a real difference in the nation.
Dr. Arega also cited some of the chairman’s investment contribution such as the newly constructed Haji Mohammed Yasin Business Tower in Dessie, MIDROC village in Woldiya, “Sheik Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi stadium” in Woldia and explained about the continuation of his unreserved effort in intensifying development oriented activities in Wollo and the nation at large. He thanked the chairman for his effort and commitment to do more and assist in all firms towards the successful accomplishment of this buildings construction.
